The movie doom is an action/adventure/horror movie based around the video game released for the old console, the movie was released in 2005 and starred famous actors suck as Dwayne Johnson. There were many different posters released for the movie but I decided to choose this one to analyze due to the reinforcement of the horror aspect to the movie, the evil that is breaking through the door is some sort of deformed monster with large dangerous teeth and no real nose to be seen. The evil is dominating the poster being the full center of attention and through the breaking of the strong metal door it shows their sense of power and strength, a large threat for whatever may be up against him. The word doom is written as the logo from the box art of the older games and shaded to be dark colours of red and steel bordering the letters, the dark reds indicate danger and fear whilst portraying a blood colour to represent death, the steel could simply represent the difficulty of what’s to come in the movie.
The tag line ‘’no one gets out alive’’ is reinforcing the horror side to the movie as death is something that most horror movies are based around, its almost like a command to die as the first letter of each word is in capital. Based on the poster itself I would say the target audience would be 15 year olds based around the more recent release means better gore effects and I image a heavy use of swear words.
